Not a Catastrophe: Omega V2 Savage Clear

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the Stabbies first Omega V2 Savage clear was a thing of beauty. Only one pull was needed to put Catastrophe in his place, as the team was almost perfectly in sync. Mechanics that had been tricky in the past were handled with ease and the DPS brought their A-game, downing the giant eyeball of doom about 20 seconds before enrage.

Raid Team consisted of:
Tanks Sukutak and Jellysaurus (Warrior and Dark Knight)
Healers Kela and Celaena (Scholar and Astrologian)
DPS Apollo, Justin Moonsbane, Nikko, and PUG member Shaba (Bard, Monk, Red Mage, Samurai)

The brave adventurers were handsomely rewarded for their work; Justin picked up both the maiming and scouting drops, while Kela added the tomestone drops to her collection (like a book-loving Scholar does).

We Are the Alpha: Omega V1 Savage Clear

Monday, July 24, the Stabbies once again took on the feared Omega Savage mode. This run, the raid team was comprised of:

Tanks Sukutak and Jellysaurus (Double Warriors!)
Healers Kela and Celaena (Scholar and Astrologian)
DPS Ravella, Justin Moonsbane, Haegar, and Nikko (Monk, Samurai, and Double Red Mage)

Things seemed to be going well for our heroes, with progress being made each run. On what was to be the final run of the evening, victory seemed to be within their grasp! However, Omega had other plans and snatched away the team’s clear with a 0.25% enrage.

Instead of causing the Stabbies to lose heart (undoubtedly what Omega intended) this fraction of a percentage wipe only served to spur on our heroes for another run. Fighting valiantly with the determination that they would not be fooled again, the Stabbies deepsed their hearts out and brought the flying serpent back down to earth.

Not only did our brave adventurers defeat the first boss of Omega Savage, that clear placed them in the Top 20 for Deltascape v1.0 Savage clears on the Brynhildr server! Watch the triumphant run via the video below!

With the first clear under their belts, the Stabbies will regroup, gear up, and prepare themselves for the horror of

Nymian Royal Academy at #20!

On Thin Ice: Omega V1 Savage

Wednesday, July 19th, the Stabbies began their epic fight against the machinations of Omega: Savage. The primary raid team consisted of:

Tanks Sukutak and Jellysaurus (Double Warriors!)
Healers Kela and Celaena (Scholar and Astrologian)
DPS Ravella, Justin Moonsbane, N’tohj, and Nikko (Monk, Samurai, Summoner, and Red Mage)

While not too terribly different from the normal mode boss fight, Savage mechanics do make positioning much more important. Slightly too far in or out and the knock-back can knock a player clear off the platform. And levinbolts to the face are no fun if there’s more than one! Ice skating around and away from bombs proved to be an important skill that most all of the team had gotten the hang of by the last run of the night.

Though the boss continued to snatch victory away from the team, our brave adventurers made progress with each attempt, proving they are indeed learning!

Below is the video recording of the best run of the night at around 34%. May the Stabbies be triumphant next raid!

Nymian Royal Academy completes First Weekly Omega Loot Run

To celebrate the release of the new Normal Mode Omega Deltascape raid, Headmistress Kela organized a Free-Company run from turns one to four, with the goal of exploring the raid, learning mechanics in a friendly environment and apportioning loot.

The group cleared all four turns with only a single wipe on the fourth floor.

Everyone was in the Voice Chat and had a great time, we will be carrying our duty finder parties for weeks to come.

First Junior Varsity Savage Team Meeting Sees Clear of A9s

“So easy a popoto could do it.” – Prefect Sukutak

Headmistress Kela offered her first ever Savage raid learning night, teaching Alexander: The Eyes of the Creator (Savage). Unfortunately, do to real-life constraints (read: College Basketball), only one student was able to participate: Prefect Ponyo. Undaunted, Kela took to Party Finder to fill the roster, making a party of mostly people seeking first-time clears.

Due to the simple nature of the mechanics of the fight, Ponyo was able to complete the instance on only the fifth pull, the run lasted a little over six minutes and there were minimal deaths. Ponyo played as her main job, Dragoon, while Kela supported her while healing as a Scholar.

Ponyo was thrilled with the clear, and emphasized afterward how easy the instance was to clear and learn. Now she’ll be able to join farm parties in party finder, earning easy and unlimited i270 accessories from now until Stormblood.

If you’d like to learn this instance from Kela, it’s not too late! Simply express your desire/availability under the requests channel of the Free Company Discord, and Kela will schedule a second night to learn and run A9s.
