Let’s Get High: Deep Dungeon Club Returns!

Hello everyone, here’s the latest news regarding Royal Academy Club activities!

Patch 4.3 is seeing the maximum participation and event coordination that the Academy has seen for many months, likely since the advent of Patch 4.2! Every Tuesday we continue to host weekly clears of The Ridorana Lighthouse, and Wednesday night we help our lower level students advance in Eureka so they can earn Relic Weapons and Armor prior to the launch of Eureka: Pagos, coming soon! Thursdays we host farms of The Minstrel’s Ballad: Tsukuyomi’s Pain, and last week one of our members won a Kamuy Whistle! Monday Nights we continue to run Gazelleskin Maps and Lost Canals, winning gil and fabulous prizes for all.

However, we are most excited to announce the successful relaunch of Deep Dungeon club, which has been on hiatus since the launch of Stormblood, when the previous Deep Dungeon, the Palace of the Dead was no longer incentivizing play with relevant to level 61+ rewards. However, with the patch in of the level 61 and higher deep dungeon Heaven on High this last Tuesday – the Stabbies happily jumped right back in to some of their favorite content.

Sunday July 8 was our first weekly meeting and all teams progressed from the bottom to floor 30. We had 10 active participants forming three teams. The four-man team consisted of Ricola, Mika, Matt and Wolf, and we also fronted two three-man teams: Sukutak, Ponyo and Maximilian AND Kela, Korodi and Hunter! We hope to gain two more people in addition to retaining our ten current participants so as maximize our advantage as we press on into higher, more difficult territory.

Any team that reaches the top* will be rewarded with four million gil to be split among the members of the team: that’s at least one million per person (more, if you happen to like a challenge of a less than light party)!

Hope to see you all in there, until next time!

*reaches the top by participating in our weekly event and completes the instance during the set-aside club meeting timeframe (to encourage participation in the event)!

“Beginner’s” Palace Group clears Floor 50

One student and Palace of the Dead Junkie, Padfoot, offered a crash-course on the Deep Dungeon to those who had never experienced the content before. Over the course of two nights, Padfoot and friends Tearlei, George and Tiny Tee learned about Palace strategy, mechanics and pomander use. After a few hours of hard work, today they mastered floor 50, unlocking the deeper floors should the participants wish to take on the 200 Floor Challenge!

Congratulations to all involved and best of luck in future spelunking!

Palace of the Dead Challenge Continues

This week witnessed several exciting events as our teams continue to get punished by the Deep Dungeon.

Team N’KKK suffered a devastating loss to the floor 170 boss, but after researching their mistake they restarted in good spirits at floor 51 with a new party composition: Paladin, Scholar and two Summoners. Raises for days! They completed to floor 71.

Team CPLS managed to arrive at floor 161 today, clearing the 150 and 160 boss rooms. Hopefully they have better luck on the 170 floor boss next week and have a shot at ending all of our suffering.

The most exciting development, however, was the introduction of a new group of contenders. George, Ravella, Richshin and Maximillion compose our third team of challengers: Team GRRM (affectionately referred to as Team Game of Thones, which serves the dual purpose of sounding awesome and reminding us all that anyone can die at anytime). Team GRRM ran floors 1-10 several times for gear and completed to floor 31 beginning next week.

The first team to 200 wins the 4,000,000 Gil prize. May the best any team win (please, anyone)!

Palace of the Dead Floor 200 Challenge: Update!

The Deep Dungeon club continues its weekly meetings in an attempt to reach floor 200 and claim the 4 million gil prize.

Two teams still complete regularly: Team CPLS (Chef, Ponyo, Luna and Sukutak) were forced to reset this week after wiping in the floor 140 range. However, due to high levels and quick progression they recovered all of 50 – 100 in one night, leaving them ready to begin at 101 next week. Meanwhile, Team NKKK (N’tohj, Kela, Korodi and Kotone) reached floor 151 without much incident.

The stakes are even higher next week. If you’re interested in this contest, any wipe will set either party back to floor 50, meaning it’s still anyone’s game and it’s not too late to join. Parties of four are recommended, although not required. The club meets from 8:30pm – 10:30pm CST on Sunday evenings.

Palace of the Dead Challenge: Week 11

The two teams continued to run the gauntlet to floor 200 of the Palace of the Dead deep dungeon.

Team N’KKK suffered a setback by having to change their roster and started over from floor 1 after reaching floor 100. In two weeks they have made up the first 70 floors.

Team CPLS has slowly but steadily made up for their slow start in the first few weeks and have progressed ten to twenty floors a week since clearing floor fifty. They are currently on floor 130, with an established a lead of 60 floors.

The challenge continues next Sunday at 8:30pm CST. Who shall be victorious and claim the 4 million gil prize?
