I Believe I Can Fly: Rival Wings PvP

The newest addition to PvP is the League of Legends-like event called Rival Wings. The Stabbies, fittingly, ended up on the two opposing teams to take on the challenge for this week’s PvP Club! Will the Falcons swoop in with victory? Or will the Ravens steal the show? Find out below!

Announcing Fundraising Contest Grand Prize Winner

As many of you may be aware, recently we hosted a Free Company Fundraising contest to raise gil for our estate move to a mansion in Shirogane. With patch 4.1 our dream became a reality as we moved into our stunning beachside mansion at Shirogane 12/7. It features a distinctive Carbuncle library exterior and, naturally, a tonberry theme inside with as much Marsh Green dye as the Headmistress could buy.

While many participated in the contest only one qualified for the grand prize: George Hyrule who not only matched Kela’s donation but over doubled it. Originally the prize was set to be free crafted furniture for life, however George very magnanimously refused to claim the prize. Let’s be real: if the man can make that much gil is he really needing someone to craft him furniture?

Knowing that such generosity couldn’t go unrewarded, Kela and leadership struggled to determine what reward would satisfy someone with near infinite knowledge of market fluctuations and essentially a bottomless supply of money. The reward decided upon was free avatar fanart! Kela isn’t a master artist but she did her best and the result is as you see it.

From the Free Company leadership and all the members who now enjoy our Company estate, thank you George Hyrule for your dedication and generosity. You are an inspiration to all of us.

Monthly Company Credit Contest Results: October!

In the month of October, with the close of the housing contest fundraiser, we instituted a new monthly contest to encourage our members to farm Company Credits and increase our Company Standing. As a result of everyone’s efforts we saw a dramatic increase in our Free Company rank from #45 to #25 (of FCs on Brynhildr) within the span of two weeks. Excellent progress!

Please take a moment to honor our top earners.

In the Third Week of October, Haegar collected the most credits and earned rank #52 overall on the server. In the fourth week, Danye took first place within the FC with a rank of #186. Both winners had their company rank changed to Eorzean PhD for one week. The rank is our contest winner prize rank and is displayed for honor and bragging rights.

Anyone who ranks at all in the monthly overall credit rankings at the end of the month receives a free rare glamour of their choosing, courtesy of the Free Company. We only had one member rank monthly overall and that was Danye! Danye was ranked #282 for overall credits earned on the server during the month of October. Congratulations! You can see Danye pictured in the chosen prize glamour: A Toaist’s Shirt, crafted (and dyed Marsh Green) by Headmistress Kela.

Congratulations to our winners. Please continue to participate in the contest. The Contest resets every Tuesday for weekly ranks and monthly for overall ranks. Company credits are best acquired by turning in gear at your grand company via Expert Delivery. We will need even more people competing to maintain and increase our FC standing in the coming months. Let’s finish the year strong (and show fake DOINK they’ve got no chance of competing with us)!

Going in Blind: Royal City of Rabanastre

Patch 4.1 just dropped and right away the Stabbies ventured in to the new 24-man raid: the Royal City of Rabanastre! Not only did our brave adventurers jump right in to the new raid, but they did so BLIND. No videos, no guides, just knowledge of their classes and attempting to not stand in bad.
The Stabbies team consisted of:

Sukutak (Warrior)
Hunter (Astrologian)
Ponyo (Dragoon)
N’tohj (Summoner)
Cerys Ninja)
Maximillion (Bard)
Haegar (Black Mage)
Kela (Scholar)

Though they did not clear the City in this first attempt, they’re gearing up to try again and snag that clear very soon. Watch the antics of the first attempts below!

The stabbies did attempt a clear the next day and were successful, see how they worked mechanics in this video!

Not a Catastrophe: Omega V2 Savage Clear

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the Stabbies first Omega V2 Savage clear was a thing of beauty. Only one pull was needed to put Catastrophe in his place, as the team was almost perfectly in sync. Mechanics that had been tricky in the past were handled with ease and the DPS brought their A-game, downing the giant eyeball of doom about 20 seconds before enrage.

Raid Team consisted of:
Tanks Sukutak and Jellysaurus (Warrior and Dark Knight)
Healers Kela and Celaena (Scholar and Astrologian)
DPS Apollo, Justin Moonsbane, Nikko, and PUG member Shaba (Bard, Monk, Red Mage, Samurai)

The brave adventurers were handsomely rewarded for their work; Justin picked up both the maiming and scouting drops, while Kela added the tomestone drops to her collection (like a book-loving Scholar does).

Check out the video below to witness the epic clear!

Fun Numbers!
